Wild Flowers

It's hard to believe these flowers are about the size of a nickel. Last year, I planted a package of wild flower seeds. The results have been very pleasant. Most of the flowers are of the verity I have photographed. I have no idea what kind they are. The flowers grow to two and a half feet to three feet. At night or early evening they close up to little buds. It is like they have been put to bed. They are a beautiful shade of blue and violet, some are a pale blue almost white. Shot using a 105mm macro lens with some levels adjustment.

I like the details in the second shot! I have some flower macros that will appear on my blog starting next weekend. Great minds think alike.

Speaking of thinking alike, I just purchased a copy of Understanding Shutter Speed by Brian Peterson at your recommendation. I wanted to use it to improve my sports photography, thanks for the suggestion!!

I love getting close macros on flowers like these and making them look much larger than they are. I posted some of that kind the other day and in the photo they look like they might be the size of a half dollar, but in real life their no bigger than a dime. These are beautiful. I really love the shades of periwinkle and dark purple as well as the yellow on the stamens.
