Crankless

This morning I meet my brother-in-law at the skate park. I had just laid down and gotten into positions, when on the second pass by me, the crank broke off his bike and flew over my head. Luckily, he was not injured and neither was my camera gear!

Purple Flower

I found this gem in down town Salt Lake City while visiting Temple Square. The flowers are always so beautiful and there is a lot to photograph. An earlier post labeled "The Color Purple" are a few pictures of the same type of flower I found in the shade. I shot in shutter priority with a Nikon D200, Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 lens, f/3.2, 1/800 sec., ISO 100, - 0.3 under exposed to help bring out the color.

Sunburst With Flare

Here is another early morning shot at the local skate park. I have had some success with silhouette shots. This time I got a little more than I bargained for. The flare and ghosting were terrible. The sun was up much higher than I like it. The tricks were cool so I kept shooting. This shot has a great sunburst with just a little flare. I am sure photoshop editing will work its magic to remove the problem. I love my Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 lens it works like a champ inside the skate park.

Jumping Horizontal

Look Mom No Hands!

D200, f/6.3, 1/1250 sec., ISO 400, Shutter Priority, I believe I used a Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 lens.

Early Morning At The Skate Park

On occasion I get invited to come and shoot friend and family members doing the things they love to do. The top picture is shot with a fish eye lens. It looks as though the tire will hit me in the face or the lens. I do sometime get a little close to the edge. I am lucky their feet do not slip off the pedals and boot me in the side of the head or hit my camera! The rider's back tire is about three to four feet above the bowl. The total height at the back tire is about 12 feet from the bottom of the bowl. Crazy stuff of a 40 year old kid, but very cool! There is a nice morning silhouette and another close to the edge shot. Top picture - D200, fish-eye lens, f/4.5, 1/320 sec., ISO 100, Middle - Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 lens, f/4.5, 1/640 sec., ISO 200, Bottom - Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 lens, f/2.8, 1/500 sec., ISO 200. Shutter-priority mode.

Rock Climbing

Are you up to the challenge?

Sculpture outside I-Rock in Ogden.

Taken with a Pentax W60. I-Rock is an indoor climbing facility for all skill levels. My children loved it. It will become one of our favorite winter (cold weather) hang outs.

On The Road

Taken with a Pentax W60 on the way to scout camp in Idaho. In fact it may be a farm in Idaho just past the Utah boarder. I do not remember. It was a beautiful drive and I wish I could have spent more time getting pictures and used an DSLR. I know many bloggers do a "sky watch" post. Here is mine. Enjoy! Some levels correction to enhance the sky without changing the cornfields to much.

Dinner Is Served!

I went back to my spider filled bush with my D50 and extension tubes, it was getting dark and the flower pictures I took did not turn out. I need more light to make sure the focus is right. I got lucky and this guy or gal had dinner land on its web. The bottom picture is just after the very quick pounce and I'm sure paralyzing bite. After moving away for a moment, it came back and moved its dinner in front of it lair. Bon-appetite! I need to get my children to catch some grasshoppers and pill bugs etc... I wonder how creepy they will look? We can always give them to Henry when were are done. Some levels correction.
