Lucky Seven, Any Way You Look At It!

Aperture priority mode, f/11, 1/10 sec., ISO 100, Nikon's new 85mm micro lens on my trusty D200. Some levels adjustment and a little clean up of the dice.

Nikon's AF-S DX Micro 85mm f/3.5G ED VR lens is pretty impressive. It is light weight, compared to their 105mm micro, sharp, and fun to use. If only there where flowers in bloom! This lens may have to be added to the bag!

I have a lens question for you. I shoot a D80, which is a DX body. I am trying to only buy FX lenses so when I move to FX I'll be set. My move to FX is in the distant future.

I want a wide angle...and I have a Tokina 11-16 all lined up to be purchased on Monday...but it is a DX format lens.

I found the Voigtlander 20mm which is FX - but can be used on the DX bodies. (Like my 50mm f/1.4) I know that is really more like a 32mm on the D80 - which is still wide angle, BUT I am swayed by how wide the Tokina is, even though it is DX.

What one would you suggest?

I'd have to order the Voitglander online.

I want a wide angle so I can take different style photos.

Also in the bag: a DX 18-135mm, and a vintage 75-300mm zoom.

Would the Voigtlander 20mm be too much overlap with already having the 18-135?

I absolutely cannot go over $600.

What do you think?

Nice, strong colour and perfect lighting. I like the composition and overall look of this picture.
Well, shooting macro with focal lenses shorter than 100 mm is kind of philosophy ;-) It's different universe of strange perspectives, shapes and sometimes... monsters :-) since you have to get really close...

David, I've never heard of that lens, so I took a short detour to read about it. Sounds very impressive and the shot certainly supports the reviews. Might be time for a bigger bag as well!

Nice work my friend!
